Google Season of Docs 2021: Call for Students
Open Robotics is happy to announce that we have been selected to participate in the Google Season of Docs (GSoD) program for 2021. GSoD is a Google sponsored program where students specializing in technical communication help open source projects improve their available documentation and tutorials. This is Open Robotics’ second year participating in the program and we are excited to be able to expand the number of GSoD students we’ll be working with to improve our projects (you can find out all about last year’s program here). GSoD is a sister program to the highly successful Google Summer of Code (GSoC) program where students received paid summer internships to contribute to open source software. The GSoD program directly contributes to the success of GSoC projects by creating documentation and tutorials that make these projects accessible to a wider audience. All students who are interested in doing cool stuff and then writing about it are encouraged to apply to the program!
We are currently accepting applications for the GSoD program at Open Robotics for Robot Operation System (ROS) and interested students should thoroughly read both the Google GSoD program page and the Open Robotics GSoD 2021 program summary on our program wiki. The Open Robotics GSoD program summary document includes a template with the specific steps students must take to apply for the program. Student applications should include the requested contact information, relevant coursework, a list of relevant experiences, and a short statement of intent. Students should closely examine the application template and the tutorial ideas we have provided on the program wiki and then submit their application with a detailed description of the topics they would like to work on. Applications to Open Robotics 2021 GSoD program are due no later than April 25th, 2021 at 11:59PM PST.
Questions about the program should be directed to gsod@osrfoundation.org.
